British Military Bases to Host Asylum Seekers in Bid to Cease Hotel-Based Use
Hundreds individuals seeking protection might be placed in defense installations as the authorities seeks to phase out the reliance of hotels.
Discussions are underway regarding the conversion of two locations - one in northern Britain and the other in the south of England - for shelter for nine hundred males.
The Prime Minister has instructed Interior Ministry and Military Ministry representatives to accelerate initiatives to identify suitable military sites.
The government has pledged to eliminate the utilization of refugee hotels, which have cost billions in funds and emerged as a primary concern for immigration opposition demonstrations.
Planned Military Locations
Migrants could be placed in the Cameron Barracks in Highland region and Crowborough military training facility in southeastern England by the final days of the upcoming month.
Commercial facilities, short-term shelter and previously unused facilities are also being reviewed for potential use.
Government Statements
Administration officials indicated that each location would comply with health and safety standards.
"We are extremely concerned at the level of unauthorized immigrants and refugee lodging facilities."
"Our administration will shut down all refugee hotels. Work are advancing rapidly, with additional appropriate locations being proposed to reduce burden for communities and cut asylum costs."
Existing Accommodation Statistics
Nearly thirty-two thousand refugee applicants are presently being sheltered in temporary lodging, representing a decrease from a peak of exceeding 56,000 in the previous year.
A newly released analysis found that billions of public funds had been "wasted" on migrant shelter.
Earlier Defense Site Operation
Two previous defense facilities - former RAF base in the eastern county and former military base in Kent - are currently being operated to shelter asylum seekers after being established under the former administration.
The Prime Minister stated on the situation, saying: "We remain committed to shut down every refugee hotel. I can't tell you how troubled and alarmed we are that we've been left with a situation as substantial as the current circumstances by the last government."
